Blog Posting #8 - End of Semester Reflection
The big takeaway for me from this course was simply being introduced to the many different ways we, as teachers, can incorporate technology into the classroom. From coding for kids to creating our own virtual field trips, the abundance of resources I was given will be incredibly valuable going forward. I am excited to continue to learn how to include more technology into my lesson plans and interconnect the use of technology into other subjects as well to provide a more rich and authentic learning experience.
My burning question at the beginning of the year was asking what we, as teachers, should expect in the classrooms within the next five years as far as technology is concerned. The example I provided explained that Ontario recently added coding into their curriculum. I now understand that the use of technology in the classroom is only going to accelerate. Therefore, it would my responsibility to fully immerse myself in these technologies so that when I have my own classroom, I will be confident and comfortable teaching with these new tools.
I contributed to the learning of others by being supportive throughout the semester. I was positive, encouraging, and helpful to my peers and cohorts throughout the semester. My constructive friend, Sydney, and I made a great team! We edited each others work, provided valuable feedback, and generally supported each other throughout the challenging semester. Her support will never be forgotten, and I am confident we will help each other throughout our teaching careers.
From others, I learned how to be construct lesson plans in ways I was not necessarily used to. I received this help from the other teacher candidates at Willow Park Elementary. Although they have significantly different teaching styles than me, they have identified valuable tips and tricks that helped me create and deliver lesson plans.
Awesome job, James. It's been so nice to work with you this semester! Great work!
